9.1 SIX 1.5°C Climate Equity Flag
The SIX 1.5°C Climate Equity Flag helps companies to provide additional evidence that their entire value chain contributes to limiting global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. This flag combines recognized climate transition plan requirements with further obligations derived from applying the WFE Green Equity Principles (2023) to climate protection.
Above all, the flag requires the company’s emissions targets to be aligned with the goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C (similar to the Science Based Targets initiative, SBTi). It also expects the company to demonstrate consistent progress in implementing its 1.5°C-compliant transition plan.
In addition, eligibility requires the disclosure of specific sustainability data points, which should align with recognized industry standards if possible. No separate report is necessary, which means the company can use existing reports and disclosures to meet this requirement.
To obtain the flag, companies must provide SIX Swiss Exchange with assurance from an approved auditor that the company meets the strict requirements. Once issued, the approved auditor’s assurance report must be published on the company’s website. The flag is valid for one year. To maintain the flag, an updated assurance report must be submitted annually and also published on the website.
