The Green Bond Flag confirms that a company uses the proceeds from a bond issuance exclusively for (re)financing activities and projects that can be considered green. To obtain the flag, the company must clearly outline in the bond prospectus how the bond proceeds will be used to fund green activities and projects.

Through its partnership with the Climate Bond Initiative (CBI), SIX can label many bonds directly, as they are already classified by a recognized auditor as compliant with the ICMA Green Bond Principles. However, it is recommended that companies also provide SIX Swiss Exchange with assurance from an approved auditor, confirming that the bond complies with the ICMA Green Bond Principles.
